CONFINED ENVIRONMENTS ON AN OPERATIONAL GUIDE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OPERATORS

April 9, 2008 Decree Law, No 81, confirmed the need for risk assessment in the workplace, including considering the risk of exposure to toxic substances, poison or flammable. Many deaths and serious injuries associated with the presence of these substances and the increased incidence was found in the activities carried out in confined areas where environmental conditions may develop which could cause the accident. Often, also the occasional operations in these environments favors even more the occurrence of the accident because action is not being properly planned and workers engaged in the operations are not sufficiently informed and trained. The operational guide ISPESL, Fire Department and the Technical Committee of the Regions and autonomous provinces - specific hazards in the access to silos, tanks and cesspools, sewers, purification plants and reservoirs used for storage and transport of substances dangerous. Art.66 of Legislative Decree n.81 April 9, 2008: "Work in areas suspected of pollution" - has as its main aim is to provide guidance for the identification, assessment and risk management for specific maintenance tasks , repair, control and inspection taking place in confined spaces where there are or may develop, in fact, toxic, poison, flammable or explosive.
